Located in the vibrant urban fabric of Psiri, Bonnie Athens by Nin & Bau is conceived as a boutique hospitality project that merges narrative-driven design with contemporary architectural sensibility. Set within one of Athens’ most youthful and energetic quarters, the hotel positions itself as an immersive spatial experience, drawing inspiration from the legendary American figures Bonnie and Clyde and translating their rebellious spirit into a refined architectural language.
Rather than adopting a literal thematic approach, the design subtly weaves ideas of adventure, passion, and freedom into the spatial composition. The hotel operates as a curated canvas where historical references are filtered through modern forms, materials, and details. Each space contributes to a layered storytelling strategy, allowing guests to experience a dialogue between past and present through atmosphere rather than decoration.
The project comprises ten carefully designed rooms and suites, each conceived as a private urban retreat. Color plays a central role, reflecting the vibrant character of Psiri while remaining balanced through elegant material choices and controlled detailing. Variations in room typologies—ranging from spaces with intimate balconies to suites featuring exclusive terraces—introduce diversity and personalization within a compact footprint. Select rooms integrate cinematic elements such as movie projectors, expanding the notion of hospitality into an experiential, almost scenographic dimension.
Interior design is guided by an emphasis on materiality, texture, and proportion. Furniture, finishes, and lighting are orchestrated to create environments that feel both playful and sophisticated, ensuring comfort without sacrificing character.
