Located along the seafront of Thessaloniki, The Observatory Apartment is conceived as a refined urban residence shaped by light, view, and material contrast. Expansive glazing frames the sea as an ever-present backdrop, while white marble surfaces amplify brightness and openness within the living areas. In contrast, the private zones introduce warmth through natural oak flooring and textured finishes, creating a more intimate atmosphere. Contemporary detailing and carefully balanced materials unify tradition and modernity, resulting in a calm, elegant living environment where spatial clarity and sensory richness coexist.

Located along the seafront of Thessaloniki, The Observatory Apartment is conceived as a luxurious urban residence defined by its direct relationship with the sea and a carefully balanced dialogue between modern and traditional design languages. The project explores how contrasting architectural elements can coexist within a unified, refined living environment.

The living areas are organized to fully embrace the expansive coastal views. White marble flooring forms a luminous base throughout the main spaces, amplifying natural light and reinforcing a sense of openness. Bright, carefully selected color accents introduce energy and contemporary character, allowing the living room to feel both elegant and expressive without compromising its clarity.

In the private zones, the atmosphere shifts toward warmth and intimacy. Bedrooms are characterized by natural oak flooring paired with more rustic gypsum detailing, introducing a tactile, grounded quality that contrasts subtly with the polished surfaces of the living areas. This material transition reinforces the spatial hierarchy of the apartment, distinguishing social and private functions while maintaining overall cohesion.

Integrated Design

Large openings play a crucial role in shaping the interior experience. Generous glazing allows daylight to penetrate deep into the apartment, blurring the boundary between interior space and the maritime landscape beyond. The sea becomes an ever-present backdrop, integrated into daily life through framed views and shifting light conditions.

Supporting spaces—including the kitchen, bathrooms, and walk-in closet—are treated as integral components of the architectural narrative rather than secondary zones. Contemporary, streamlined elements are employed here, with precise detailing and refined material choices that bridge the traditional references of the apartment with a more modern aesthetic.
